A full sit-down Indian menu, with an Indo-Chinese side, in the Lake Nona Landing shopping center

Indian dishes served at Tabla Indian Restaurant in Lake Nona Landing

Tabla Indian Restaurant is at 9971 Tagore Place, Suite 9, in the Lake Nona Landing shopping center off Narcoossee Road. It serves North Indian curries, tandoor dishes, biryani and breads, plus a separate Indo-Chinese section with Hakka noodles and Manchurian dishes. The Lake Nona location opened around late 2021 and is one of about 16 Tabla restaurants, a group that began in Winter Park. Vegetarian dishes have their own section of the menu, though the online menu does not label dishes vegan or gluten-free. Tabla offers dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering, and has a full bar.

Tabla was the first full-service Indian restaurant to open in Lake Nona, and today it is the only Indian restaurant on our Lake Nona dining guide.

That makes Tabla the default answer to "where do we get Indian tonight?" for most of the community. Here is what it serves, where it sits, and where it falls short.

Where is Tabla in Lake Nona?

Tabla is in Lake Nona Landing, the Walmart, Sam's Club and Lowe's center on Narcoossee Road just south of the SR 417 interchange.

The address is 9971 Tagore Place, Suite 9, Orlando, FL 32827. Tagore Place is a street inside Lake Nona Landing, so you reach Tabla through the shopping center rather than from a Narcoossee Road storefront.

It shares the center with a long list of chains and quick-service spots, including Jeremiah's Italian Ice in the same Tagore Place building. That is useful if you are pairing dinner with dessert or an errand run, and it means parking is shared with some of the busiest stores in Lake Nona.

What kind of Indian food does Tabla serve?

Tabla serves a broad North Indian menu of curries, tandoor dishes, biryani and breads, plus a separate Indo-Chinese section.

The core of the menu is what most diners expect from an Indian restaurant: tandoor-cooked meats, cream- and tomato-based curries such as butter chicken and tikka masala, lamb and seafood curries, rice specialties and a full bread list.

The less expected part is the Indo-Chinese section. Dishes such as Hakka noodles, Indo-Chinese fried rice and Manchurian or Schezwan preparations are a staple of Indian restaurants in India itself but are still hard to find in Orlando. If someone at your table is lukewarm on curry, that section is the easiest way to bring them along.

Is Tabla a good choice for vegetarians?

Yes. Vegetarian dishes have their own section of the menu, separate from the meat dishes.

Paneer dishes, dal, chickpea and vegetable curries, and most of the appetizers and breads are meat-free, so a vegetarian diner gets as many choices as anyone else at the table. That is not true of most restaurants in Lake Nona.

Vegan and gluten-free diners have more work to do. The online menu does not label dishes vegan or gluten-free, and many Indian dishes use ghee, cream, yogurt or wheat, so ask the staff before ordering. Ask about spice level too: heat varies widely from dish to dish.

Is Tabla a local restaurant or a chain?

Tabla is a regional group: the Lake Nona restaurant is one of about 16 Tabla locations, and the group began in Winter Park.

Founder Nora Jain opened the first Tabla on Park Avenue in Winter Park. Lake Nona became the third Central Florida location around late 2021, and Tabla's website now lists restaurants in Orlando, Oviedo and Clermont as well as in Illinois, Kentucky, Texas, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Ohio.

In practice that means a consistent, tested menu rather than a chef-driven one-off. It also means the menu is set for the group, so expect the same dishes you would find at other Tabla locations.

Is Tabla the only Indian restaurant in Lake Nona?

Yes. Tabla is currently the only Indian restaurant on our Lake Nona dining guide.

That makes it the default for curry, biryani and naan close to home, whether you are eating in or ordering out. For the rest of the Asian options nearby, from Thai at Durian Durian to pho at Pho Haven, see the dining guide.

Does Tabla offer takeout, delivery and catering?

Yes. Tabla Lake Nona offers dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering.

Online ordering runs through Tabla's website, and the menu travels well: curries, rice and breads hold up better in a container than most restaurant food. Catering is the option to look at for a party or office lunch, since Indian food is one of the easier cuisines to serve to a mixed group of meat-eaters and vegetarians.

Hours and prices change, so check Tabla's website before you go.

Pros, Cons and Our Take

Pros

  • The only full-service Indian restaurant in Lake Nona
  • A real vegetarian menu, not a token dish or two
  • Indo-Chinese dishes that are hard to find elsewhere in Orlando
  • Takeout, delivery and catering for nights in and parties
  • A full bar with beer, wine and cocktails

Cons

  • The setting is a big-box shopping center, not a waterfront or a walkable street
  • Shared parking with Walmart, Sam's Club and Lowe's gets busy at peak times
  • Vegan and gluten-free dishes are not labeled on the online menu
  • A regional chain menu rather than one built around Lake Nona

Our Take

Tabla is not trying to be a destination restaurant, and it does not need to be. It fills a gap nothing else in Lake Nona fills: a full Indian menu, sit-down or carry-out, a few minutes from home. Go for the curries and breads, try the Indo-Chinese section at least once, and bring vegetarian friends. If you want ambience, Lake Nona Town Center is a better bet for the evening; for the food, Tabla is the reliable choice.

What the Neighbors Know

Residents of Laureate Park and Alora are the closest neighbors to Lake Nona Landing, and for them Tabla is effectively the neighborhood Indian restaurant. It is the kind of place that ends up on a household's regular takeout rotation rather than saved for special occasions.

That pattern is typical of how dining works here: Lake Nona Town Center gets the attention, but the everyday meals come from the shopping centers along Narcoossee Road. If being close to that range of options matters to you, it is worth weighing when you compare neighborhoods. The full list is in our Lake Nona restaurant guide.
