Signature Flight Support: Where Global Aviation Excellence Takes Off in Lake Nona

The company behind more than 200 private-jet terminals worldwide runs the business from an office tower in Lake Nona Town Center.

Signature Aviation, formerly Signature Flight Support and part of BBA Aviation, operates more than 200 fixed-base operations (FBOs), which are private-aviation terminals, in 27 countries. Its headquarters is at 13485 Veterans Way in Lake Nona Town Center, in a six-story, 65,000-square-foot office building at Veterans Way and Lake Nona Boulevard. The company announced the move from downtown Orlando, its home for about 25 years, in October 2017, with occupancy planned for early 2019. Signature was taken private in June 2021 in a deal worth about $4.7 billion by Blackstone, Global Infrastructure Partners and Cascade Investment. Locally, Signature runs the private-aviation terminal at Orlando International Airport, where a $26 million expansion approved in December 2025 is due for completion in fall 2028.

Most people have never heard of Signature Aviation, even though anyone who has flown privately has almost certainly walked through one of its terminals. It's the company that fuels, parks and hangars business jets, and it greets their passengers, at more than 200 airports worldwide.

Its corporate headquarters isn't at an airport. It's in an office building in Lake Nona Town Center. Here's what Signature does, how it ended up in Lake Nona, and why the headquarters matters more to the community than most people realize.

What Is Signature Aviation?

Signature Aviation runs a global network of fixed-base operations (FBOs), the private terminals that serve business jets and their passengers at more than 200 locations in 27 countries.

An FBO is the private-aviation equivalent of an airline terminal. It fuels aircraft, parks and hangars them, handles ground services, and gives passengers and crews a lounge, a quick way on and off the plane, and a car waiting at the curb. Signature's customers are business-jet owners, charter operators, corporate flight departments and government flights, not airline passengers.

The company was long known as Signature Flight Support, the FBO brand of the British group BBA Aviation. After BBA sold its aerospace parts business in early 2020, the whole group renamed itself Signature Aviation.

Why Is Signature Aviation Headquartered in Lake Nona?

Signature moved its headquarters to Lake Nona Town Center from downtown Orlando, announcing the move in October 2017 as the anchor tenant of a new office building there.

The company had been in downtown Orlando for about 25 years. Moving to Lake Nona put the headquarters a short drive from Orlando International Airport, where Signature runs one of its own terminals, in a newly built office in the district Tavistock was developing as Lake Nona's business core.

The building is a six-story, 65,000-square-foot Class A office at the southwest corner of Veterans Way and Lake Nona Boulevard. Tavistock developed it, and construction was scheduled to finish in early 2019.

Does Signature Operate at Orlando International Airport?

Yes. Signature has run the private-aviation terminal at Orlando International Airport since 1996, at 4215 Lindy Circle, and a $26 million expansion there is due for completion in fall 2028.

In December 2025, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority approved Signature's plan to replace its 1980s-era MCO terminal with a new 8,000-square-foot building and to add two 40,000-square-foot hangars, under a 30-year lease on more than 1.3 million square feet. For private flyers heading to Orlando's theme parks, conventions or Lake Nona itself, this is the terminal they use.

Signature does not currently appear among the FBOs at Orlando Executive Airport, which is served by other operators.

Who Owns Signature Aviation?

Signature Aviation has been privately owned since June 2021, when Blackstone, Global Infrastructure Partners and Cascade Investment bought it for about $4.7 billion and took it off the London Stock Exchange.

Global Infrastructure Partners became part of BlackRock in October 2024. Cascade Investment is the investment firm of Bill Gates, and it held a stake in Signature before the buyout. No change of ownership has been announced since.

Under private ownership, Signature has kept growing. It bought 14 TAC Air FBOs in 2022, added an FBO at Fort Lauderdale Executive in 2025, and expanded blended sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to 33 locations in the U.S. and Europe by early 2025.

Can the Public Visit Signature's Lake Nona Office?

No. Signature's Lake Nona location is a corporate headquarters office with no public-facing services; its customer terminals are at airports.

The Lake Nona office handles the company's corporate work: executive leadership, finance, legal, technology and the other functions behind a global network. Unless you work there, the building is simply part of the Town Center skyline, across from the shops and restaurants around Lake Nona Town Center.

Signature doesn't publish a headcount for the Lake Nona office. The company has about 5,000 employees in total, most of them at its airport terminals.

What Does Signature Aviation Mean for Living in Lake Nona?

Signature gives Lake Nona a global corporate headquarters in its own Town Center, part of a small aviation cluster that also includes Simcom by CAE's pilot-training center on Nemours Parkway.

For residents, the value is in the jobs and the credibility. Corporate headquarters bring professional office roles, and a global company choosing Lake Nona Town Center helped establish it as a real business district, not just a retail strip. Together with Simcom by CAE and the airport five miles north, it gives Lake Nona a real aviation presence.

What the Neighbors Know

Lake Nona residents mostly know Signature as a name on an office building in Town Center, if they know it at all. Frequent private flyers know it from the other end, as the terminal they use at MCO and at airports around the world.

Signature fits a pattern in Lake Nona: global organizations that chose to locate here quietly, and that make the community a place people work as well as live.
