Isle of Pine Preserve offers a tranquil escape into Florida's diverse ecosystems, encompassing 550 acres of pine flatwoods, cypress domes, and marshlands. Located southeast of Lake Nona, this preserve provides visitors with a chance to experience the region's natural beauty through a network of well-maintained trails.

The preserve features several trails:

  • Blue Trail: The main access point for hiking and horseback riding, this trail winds through upland habitats ideal for observing gopher tortoises and other wildlife.
  • Red Trail: An interior loop that stays on drier ground amid scrub and scrubby flatwoods, offering a scenic and immersive experience.
  • White Trail: A short, half-circle trail off the Blue Trail that enters wetter flatwoods, where visitors might encounter delicate sundews and bladderworts.
  • Green Trail: Located on the western side of the preserve, this trail offers panoramic views of Lake Mary Jane and leads to a carnivorous plant bog.

Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, with opportunities to see bald eagles and ospreys, and explore diverse plant life, including saw palmetto, gallberry, and various wildflowers. The preserve is open from sunrise to sunset, and while there are no restrooms or water facilities, picnic areas are available for a restful break.

Please note that bicycles are not permitted, but leashed dogs are welcome. The preserve is managed by the Orange County Environmental Protection Division, ensuring the conservation of this natural habitat for future generations.
