Lake Nona is a 587-acre freshwater lake nestled in the heart of Orlando’s Lake Nona community. As the namesake of the master-planned neighborhood, this natural water-body plays a vital role in shaping the area's identity, ecology, and recreational offerings.
Situated within the Lake Hart Watershed, Lake Nona has been monitored for water quality since 1972, with over 10,000 samples collected to date. The lake supports a diverse aquatic ecosystem and contributes to the region's environmental health.
The lake's shoreline is bordered by two residential communities, the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club and Water's Edge. This offers residents and visitors scenic views and opportunities for outdoor activities. While there are no public boat ramps directly on Lake Nona, residents of the two neighborhoods enjoy facilities that provide access for boating and fishing enthusiasts.
Efforts to preserve and enhance Lake Nona's natural beauty include the planting of native vegetation along its banks, creating a fertile border that supports both the function and aesthetics of the area.
