A consistent A, a genuine head start on college through Valencia, and a school whose size and zone have both changed in the last two years.

Lake Nona High School is an Orange County Public Schools 9-12 high school at 12500 Narcoossee Road, Orlando, FL 32832. It opened in 2009. It earned an A every year from 2021-22 through 2025-26 and has held an A consistently since at least 2012. Through the Collegiate Academy, run with the adjacent Valencia College campus, qualifying students can earn up to a full Associate in Arts degree before graduating. Federal data lists 2,974 students for 2024-25, after Innovation High School opened to relieve it. The mascot is the Lion.

If you're house-hunting in Lake Nona, one school name comes up again and again: Lake Nona High School. For a lot of families the pitch practically writes itself: an A-rated public high school where a motivated student can walk out with college credit, or a full associate degree, already in hand.

That pitch is mostly true. But the school has changed more in the last two years than in the decade before, in size and in who is zoned for it. Here are the impressive parts, the fine print and the honest trade-offs.

Where is Lake Nona High School?

Lake Nona High School is at 12500 Narcoossee Road, Orlando, FL 32832, next to Valencia College's Lake Nona campus.

The neighborhoods closest to it are Eagle Creek, Laureate Park, Isles of Lake Nona, Summerdale Park, Alora, Laurel Pointe, Fell's Landing, VillageWalk and Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. Lake Nona Middle School is about a mile away. Being near a school and being zoned for it are two different things, though, and at Lake Nona High that distinction matters more than usual. Is Lake Nona High School really A-rated?

Yes. Lake Nona High earned an A every year from 2021-22 through 2025-26, the years shown on the OCPS website, and has held an A consistently since at least 2012.

The Florida Department of Education grades every public school each year on test performance, learning gains, graduation rate, and college and career acceleration. Lake Nona High's reported graduation rate has run around 97 percent, well above the state average. Grades are recalculated every summer, and Florida adjusts its scales. What is the Collegiate Academy?

The Collegiate Academy is an accelerated program run with Valencia College, whose Lake Nona campus is next door, that lets qualifying students earn up to a full Associate in Arts degree before high school graduation.

Plenty of Orange County schools earn A's. The Collegiate Academy is what actually sets Lake Nona High apart. Through a combination of Advanced Placement and dual-enrollment courses, students can take anywhere from a few college classes to a complete A.A., which can take up to two years off a four-year degree and a significant amount off the tuition bill.

A few things worth knowing about how it works:

• It is by application, not automatic. Entry into the degree track has typically required a minimum GPA, a qualifying college-placement score and a written statement of goals; check the school's Collegiate Academy page for the current requirements.
• It is real college work. Grades land on a college transcript that follows the student. It is a strong opportunity for a ready student and a heavy load for one who isn't.
• It fits the neighborhood. With Valencia next door and the Medical City research and teaching campuses nearby, the academy connects naturally to the science and health focus of the area.

What other programs does Lake Nona High offer?

Beyond the Collegiate Academy, the school lists Advanced Placement, Cambridge/AICE, a Health Sciences Academy, Project Lead The Way engineering, digital media, agriscience and law enforcement programs.

It also offers dual enrollment with the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida and Orange Technical College, in addition to Valencia. On the arts side, the school runs band (the Sound of the Lions), chorus, orchestra, theater and visual arts, and the Lions field a full athletics program. For a school this size, the menu of programs and electives is genuinely deep, which is one real upside of a large enrollment.

How big is Lake Nona High School now?

Federal data lists 2,974 students for 2024-25, down sharply from the year before, when Innovation High opened to relieve it.

Innovation High School opened in August 2024 with 1,753 students in its first year, drawing part of its zone from Lake Nona High's, along with parts of the Colonial and University High zones. Even after the drop, Lake Nona High remains one of the larger high schools in Orange County, with a student-teacher ratio of roughly 25 to 1.

Is my home zoned for Lake Nona High School?

Check the exact address on the OCPS Find My School tool. Lake Nona High's zone has changed twice in two years.

Innovation High took part of the zone when it opened in 2024. Then in December 2025, the School Board approved a targeted rezoning between Cypress Creek High and Lake Nona High for the 2026-27 school year. Older listings and neighborhood guides that say "zoned for Lake Nona High" may predate one or both changes. High school zones are also drawn separately from elementary and middle school zones, so check all three levels for any address you are considering.

The Honest Version: Pros, Cons and Our Take

Our Take: For a self-motivated, college-bound student, especially one drawn to health sciences or eager to bank college credit early, Lake Nona High is a legitimately strong option, and the Collegiate Academy is something most Orlando high schools can't match. For a student who needs a smaller setting, the size is a real consideration. And for any buyer, the zone has moved twice recently: confirm the address before you count on it.
