Most parks around Lake Nona are neighborhood greens or city parks inside the planned community. Bomberos Field Park is neither. It is a county-built sports facility on Moss Park Road, and it exists mainly because Orange County ran short of lit, regulation-size fields for a growing population that plays soccer, lacrosse and flag football.
That shapes what it is good for. If your child plays on a club or rec team, you will probably end up here. If you want a splash pad, a pickleball court or a shaded pavilion for a birthday party, it is the wrong park, and this guide says which one to use instead.

Bomberos Field Park is a 20-acre public sports park run by Orange County Parks and Recreation, built around three multipurpose fields.
The county opened it on August 4, 2021, with a ribbon cutting led by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings. The project cost $6.1 million. It was the park that let the county reach a goal it set in 2014: 14 new multipurpose fields countywide. When that effort began, the county said it had only six lit, regulation-size fields in its entire system.
In other words, this is infrastructure for organised field sports first and a neighborhood park second. Read it that way and it does its job well.
Where is Bomberos Field Park, and is it in Lake Nona?
It is at 11485 Moss Park Road, beside Fire Station 77, in unincorporated Orange County on the southeast edge of the greater Lake Nona area rather than inside the City of Orlando's Lake Nona.
The older version of this post described the park as sitting in the heart of Lake Nona. That was wrong. The park is on the Moss Park Road corridor, the stretch that runs east toward the regional Moss Park. It serves the neighborhoods along that corridor far better than it serves Laureate Park or the Town Center area, where city parks are closer.
The distinction matters for one practical reason: this is a county park, so county rules, county hours and county reservation procedures apply, not the City of Orlando's.

The fields are the reason the park exists. At least one local youth soccer club, OCSS Lake Nona, lists Bomberos as a venue for its practices and games under a partnership with the county, which tells you who the regular users are.
The playground is the other draw. The county built it with inclusive, wheelchair-accessible elements, which is still less common than it should be in suburban parks.

The park is open every day from 8 a.m., closing at 8 p.m. in summer and 6 p.m. in winter, and fields are reserved by calling the park at least 30 days ahead.
The reservation line is 407-254-6840. The county asks callers to leave a detailed message if they reach voicemail, and it needs 30 days or more to schedule a rental and complete the payment and paperwork. Plan a team event or tournament well before the date, not the week of.
The earlier winter closing time is the detail people miss. After the clocks change in the fall, a weekday evening visit gets short.
Why is it called Bomberos Field Park?
Bomberos is Spanish for firefighters, and the name honors the crew at Orange County Fire Rescue Station 77 next door.
Station 77 firefighters took part in the 2021 ribbon cutting. The name is a tribute, not a description: the park is not a training ground and is not run by the fire department.
