Target, Nordstrom Rack, DICK'S and three more big stores are open; the restaurants and smaller shops are still on the way. Here's where things stand.

Rendering of the Lake Nona West shopping center

By David Myers, Broker Associate · NonaOrlandoProperties.com · Last updated September 2026

Lake Nona West is a 405,000-square-foot open-air shopping center on 54 acres at 5959 Lake Nona Boulevard, just east of Boggy Creek Road, in Orlando's 32827 ZIP code. Tavistock Development Company, Lake Nona's master developer, built it, and the first store, Homesense, opened in May 2026. Target opened on July 26, 2026, and Nordstrom Rack opened on September 24, 2026. DICK'S Sporting Goods with Golf Galaxy, Barnes & Noble, Total Wine & More and Homesense are also open. Sephora, JETSET Pilates, Cañonita, Just Salad, Kilwins, Drybar and Gloss Nail Co. are still listed as coming soon.

For most of Lake Nona's history, a Target run meant leaving Lake Nona. Lake Nona West changed that in July 2026, and it has kept adding stores since: six big retailers are now open along Lake Nona Boulevard on the west side of the community.

It is still filling in. The restaurants and most of the smaller shops haven't opened yet, so the center you visit now will look different by spring. This guide reflects Lake Nona West as it stands in September 2026.

The restaurants and smaller shops are still listed as coming soon, led by Cañonita, a full-service Mexican restaurant from Tavistock Restaurant Collection.

  • Cañonita: expected late 2026. It will be the first full-service Cañonita outside The Venetian in Las Vegas. (A separate Cañonita Street Taqueria stall already operates at Boxi Park.)
  • Sephora and JETSET Pilates: coming soon; JETSET is taking presale memberships.
  • Just Salad, Kilwins, Drybar and Gloss Nail Co.: coming soon, no dates announced.
  • A breakfast and lunch restaurant was also announced in April 2026, but its name has not been released.

How did Lake Nona West come together?

Tavistock announced Target as the anchor in June 2024, and the first store opened almost two years later, in May 2026.

The Target announcement earned the project NAIOP Central Florida's 2024 Retail Deal of the Year, and CoStar named it a top retail deal of spring 2024. By May 2025, more than 300,000 square feet had been pre-leased. Homesense opened first in May 2026, followed by Barnes & Noble and Total Wine in June, Target in July, DICK'S and Golf Galaxy in August, and Nordstrom Rack in September.

Tavistock also commissioned 30 large-scale murals from the Miami studio Chalk & Brush; we cover them in our Lake Nona West murals post.

Pros, Cons and Our Take

Pros

  • Target, Nordstrom Rack, DICK'S, Barnes & Noble and Total Wine without leaving Lake Nona.
  • An open-air layout with shade, public murals and fast EV charging.
  • The first full-service Cañonita outside Las Vegas, once it opens.

Cons

  • Still opening in phases: the restaurants and smaller shops aren't open yet.
  • More traffic on Lake Nona Boulevard.
  • Open-air means shopping in Florida heat and afternoon rain.

Our Take

Lake Nona West filled the biggest gap in Lake Nona's shopping: everyday national retail, starting with Target. With the six big stores now open, the center already works for most errands. The restaurants will determine whether it becomes a place people linger or just a place they park, shop and leave. For buyers weighing Lake Nona, it's a real point in the area's favor today, not a promise.

What the Neighbors Know

If you live on the west side of Lake Nona, in Somerset Park or near Laureate Park, Lake Nona West has become the default for everything the local Publix doesn't carry. For groceries on the same trip, Lake Nona Creekside is next door. The full list is in our Lake Nona shopping guide.
