Who's Living in Lake Nona?
There is no arguing that Lake Nona will be one of Orlando's fastest growing areas over the next several years. With the openings of facilities in Medical City, the growth of Laureate Park, Eagle Creek, and Randal Park and the opening of new retail including the Lake Nona Town Center, Lake Nona is positioned to become an economic powerhouse in Orlando.
The population of Lake Nona is expected to triple over the next ten years. We thought it would be fun to take a look at just who is living in the Lake Nona area now.
Room to Grow
As of this posting date, there is a total population in the Lake Nona area of 21, 189 of which 15,199 live in the 32832 zip code which makes up the residential areas East of Narcoossee road and 5,990 which live in the 32827 zip code which is west of Narcoossee.
Since 2000, the 32832 zip code has grown by 705% and the 32827 zip has grown by 177%. However, the 32827 zip code also encompasses the Medical City/Laureate Park area, so expect this percentage to catch up with 32832 over the next couple of years. Currently, there is an average of 220 residents per square mile in the Lake Nona area.
Young & Educated
The approx average age of Lake Nona residents is a youthful 32. 40% of the homes in the area have children under 18 living in them. Almost half of the adult residents in the area are married and 72% have some level of college education including 28% who have a bachelors degree and 16% who have a graduate degree. The average household income is between $50 to $75K.

At 63% home ownership, Lake Nona shows signs of a stable area where people like to live. 23% of properties in the area are rented which is indicative of younger age of the community population. Located in Orlando's Southeast corner, the Lake Nona area is intersected by the 417 green-way and boarded by the Beachline Expressway and Orlando International Airport, making it convenient to all points in the greater Orlando area and beyond. Within 25 minutes you can be in downtown Orlando, Winter Park or Walt Disney World which makes it perfect for both young, single professionals and families alike.
