The concept for Horizons West was adopted in 1995 with the expansion of the 529 Western Beltway in Southwest Orange County. The original plan was for 5 villages but it has since grown tremendously to include many neighborhoods that fall into either the Windermere or Winter Garden zip codes but are all considered the Horizons West area. It is currently one of the newest and fastest growing areas of Orlando. The area is tucked between the West side of the Butler Chain of Lakes and the Orange County line just west of the 529 Western Beltway. Its southern border is the Walt Disney World Resort and its Northern border zig zags a bit but is Tilden Road, just south of the Winter Garden Village Shopping District.
